During the Japanese Period, businessman Haruji Matsue built the largest sugar plantation in the Northern Marianas. Over the next decades, Saipan became a major sugarcane kingdom in the world, significantly boosting its economy.
The mature cane was transported to processing mills in Chalan Kanoa, Tinian Town, and Songsong on Rota by extensive railroad systems built by Matsue’s company the Nan’yô Kohatsu Kabushiki Kaisha known as NKK.
We began at the heart of our community, where sugarcane has been a beloved tradition for ages. We wanted to keep it real, capturing the genuine taste of sugarcane while supporting our local farmers and being eco-friendly.
On early Saturday mornings and night events, our sugarcane juice adventure kicks off! Setting up our vibrant stall, we welcome folks with warm smiles and ice-cold cups of goodness.
